Three distinct toe profiles
Square toes give broad clearance across the front, snip toes taper the sides, and pointed profiles narrow straight to the front.

A square toe mid calf build
We built this calf-high pair on our snip toe last, tapering the front before squaring it off at the tip. The camel synthetic upper is backed with leather lining to keep the shaft upright. A low heel anchors the bottom, balanced by a rubber outsole for steady contact on hard ground.
Caring for your boots
Worth doing
- Brush dried dust from suede with a soft bristle brush.
- Rub conditioner into smooth leather when the surface feels dry.
- Stand shafts upright on boot trees so the leather does not crease.
- Let wet boots dry slowly at room temperature away from heat.
Worth avoiding
- Do not soak the leather or submerge the lower foot.
- Do not place wet boots near a radiator or warm vent.
- Do not scrub embroidery rows with stiff wire or rough pads.
- Do not store shafts folded flat under other heavy gear.
Reading a child's size on the box
One ladder, two names, and the count restarts once. After the thirteenth the numbers begin again at one, so a 3 Little Kid is a bigger boot than a 13 Little Kid. That single step is where most of the wrong boxes come from.

Why we build around fit first
A western boot has no laces or buckles to pull tight when the foot slides. If the length is wrong, the heel slips and the ball of the foot sits off the turn of the sole. We publish inch measurements for every last so you choose by raw length and shaft height rather than guesswork.

Fitting our western boots by length and shaft height
Measure your foot at the end of the day when it sits at its fullest spread. Stand on paper, draw a line at your heel and longest toe, and read the inches against our women's grid. Across sizes 5 to 11.5, our women's lengths run from 8.6 to 10.8 inches with minimal variance from chart to chart. Our children's charts cover 5 to 7.5 inches.
Shaft height decides where the boot meets your leg. We publish calf opening measurements for 206 of our 465 pages. Check that number against your leg before you pick a tall shaft.
